Electronic Logging Changes

Electronic logs are very convenient, accurate and verifiable. My company used paper logs until 2010. I enjoyed the time-saving benefits of the new system almost immediately, in spite of dire predictions by the naysayers.
A couple of days ago, Schneider introduced some minor changes to the electronic logging system, allegedly in response to a FMCSA mandate. Our three-minute "grace period" has been eliminated. The computer starts recording the drive as soon as the wheels start turning, instead of calculating after a three minute threshold has been met. I conducted a minor experiment the night of the change. Five minutes after I "parked for the night", I moved my truck to a different space almost 30 feet away. My 10 hour break didn't revert back to the beginning, as I was suspecting & dreading. Sometimes, I have to improvise a parking spot at a full truckstop until a legitimate space becomes available. This occasionally happens 5 hours into my sleep shift. It would really frustrate me to have to start my break over from that moment, especially if I was in a hurry.
