LOVING LAREDO

I got my driving day started at 13:00 today, from the Dallas OC. All went as usual on I-35 down to Laredo. There were a few misbehaving drivers, but most were mature & courteous. Austin traffic moved along at a snail's pace during the after-work rush hour(s). Dangerous triple-towed vehicles bound for Mexico weren't hassled by State Troopers, as usual. This is an example of "selective enforcement". Border Patrol vehicles were out in-force as I approached Laredo. I had my picture taken my remote cameras on the southbound side of the Border Patrol checkpoint (northbound), so I smiled & waved for the red flash. When I arrived at he Laredo OC, I had to wait behind 2 other trucks to clear the Schneider inbound inspection station. This took about 15 minutes. A mechanic gave my trailer a good look-over before giving me the necessary paper & permission to park. There were ample spaces to choose from. All went very smoothly. Now, I'm just waiting for my assignment to somewhere way up north to appear on my computer.

Just before I paused to jot this blog entry, I took a 1.1 mile walk around the yard. I'm having fun with a walking / pedometer app that I downloaded to my phone yesterday. This is my 2nd "walk." My trip around the yard apparently burned off just enough calories to counteract the Coca-Cola I just drank. I don't drink sodas very often. This habit absence has probably helped me keep better health & weight than many of my fellow drivers during my 11 years in the truck-driving industry.
