SOLO DRIVING ISN'T FOR ME

A couple of mornings ago, I rolled out of bed with a decision. My name was going onto the partner matching board. Solo driving is slow and not nearly as profitable as teaming. I figured it would take a few weeks for my company to team me up with someone. Not so. It went much more quickly than that.

Within an hour, a Green Bay manager called me with a name and phone number of a fellow who has been looking for a partner for a considerable amount of time. He happens to live 15 miles from me & is a non-smoker. After a round of voice mail, returned calls & live conversation – we had a deal. Our supervisors were happy to make arrangements for us to consolidate into one truck as soon as possible. Plans are in motion for us to meet in Des Moines, Iowa on Tuesday.

It has only been eight days since parting ways with my previous co-driver. Never seeing him again would be alright with me. I continue to occasionally shudder at some of the experiences I had with him, yet there was enough good in teaming to promote my desire to resume doing so with another driver.
