ACTION-PACKED SUNDAY

The morning started with the police interrogating my neighbor & searching his truck. He was acting strangely & harassing other truck drivers, apparently. This was in Big Cabin, Oklahoma.

My first stop during my drive was at the Petro Stopping Center – Joplin, Missouri. There, I fueled my truck, then took a shower. The facilities were extremely nice. Afterward, I admired some of the trucks they have on display at their museum.

My route to Iowa took me up the future I-49 corridor, currently known as "US-71." as I passed through Carthage, I looked over to see if Schneider trailers are still being used at the Schreiber cheese plant. Occasionally, I miss being on that dedicated route.

The Blue Beacon truck wash, in Kansas City, is visible from I-435. somehow, there weren't any trucks waiting to get in. This is amazing, especially for such a pleasant Sunday morning. So, I took the opportunity to make the truck shine again– adding to my effort to heighten Victor's first impression of myself & this truck. * Victor is the man that I'll be teaming with soon.

My second cousin, Sherry, talked me into visiting her house today - her parents house, actually. Her mom is my mom's first cousin, so how do you do the math on that? Anyway… I got to swing by and have dinner with them. Negotiating turns on their tight country roads was interesting. My DOT clock cut our visit down to a single hour. It was a very pleasant hour, yet I had to leave with haste. I arrived at the Iowa 80 truck stop with mere minutes to spare on my 14 hour DOT clock. An easy parking space completed my pleasant & action-packed driving experience today.
