TWO DAYS ON I-80

We got a good assignment, Friday afternoon. They had us pick up 8,000 lbs of merchandise & begin our trip eastward. The heavy Sacramento traffic didn't bother me a bit. Folks actually seemed reasonably courteous.

I took my first break at a rest area on Donner Summit. Snow was still on the ground, but melting quickly. Hooray! Precious, elusive snow!I took a ten minute hike though the woods. Access to nature really boosts my spirits.

The remainder of our trip across I-80 was smooth & uneventful. Sometimes we ponder how many times we have probably traveled over this stretch of the United States. It's a lot. A lot. I took exit 397, to Lincoln, Nebraska & maneuvered through the umpteen stoplights & onto Highway 2. This was my old route, on the Schreiber cheese account. Oh, that got boring - so, I asked them to put me back on "system". Randomness, change & challenges are my cups of tea.
We did driver swap in Percival, Iowa just a few minutes ago. The truckstops have thoroughly remodeled their facilities since last year's devastating flood. We were impressed by the changes. We are currently traveling down I-29, toward Kansas City. This stretch of road was also underwater last year.
