FEELING WELCOME IN CALIFORNIA

KRAMER JUNCTION, also known as BORON -

If memory serves correctly, Uncle Truett used to live here, delivering newspapers for the Bakersfield Californian.

I spent about two hours here, at the Pilot Travel Center. We had to pause somewhere to make our delivery arrival congruent with our customer's open hours. You will have to wait until next time to find out where we are going. :-)

My turn at the wheel started in Winslow, Arizona. It was a fairly uneventful day, except for a mild dust storm that prompted me to reduce my speed for a few minutes. I had a really tasty & satisfying burrito for lunch, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. The California "welcome committee" gave me a quick nod & a wave, for which I was glad for. My truck & credentials have been examined enough this week to satisfy me for a while. (I didn't mention that a security guard searched our truck yesterday - standard procedure).

Regina called me before she went to bed. I talked to my seven-year old son, Hunter, earlier in the day. The most eventful thing in Nixa was Forest (4) getting a piece of styrofoam stuck in his ear. Regina was able to retrieve it with a pair of eyebrow tweezers. If that didn't work, they were planning to pour hydrogen peroxide into his ear to make the styrofoam float out.

To my knowledge, the fugitive in / from Nixa hasn't been caught yet. Shooting at police is serious business. Hopefully he will find himself in a pair of handcuffs soon.
