SURGERY SUCCESS?

I barely slept during the hours I knew the doctors were actively cutting into my dad.
We arrived in Nixa (home) a little past 9:15 this morning. My wife and son greeted me with overflowing excitement. The three of us wasted little time engaging in our usual chores and pleasures: haircuts, grocery shopping, bike rides & showers.
Later on, I picked up my 7 year old son from school. That was one excited boy!
I sporadically talked to my mom, brother & grandfather throughout the day. The doctors told my family that the surgery went well. However, we won't know if the ultimate goal of this surgery has been achieved for another three months.
When my brother called me, he was still rattled by what he witnessed in the recovery room. When my dad regained consciousness, he exhibited behaviors that were not typical of himself. The tubes & wires were not his friends, if you know what I mean. I talked to my mom and grandmother shortly after my conversation with Mark (my brother). They confirmed what he had said, but assured me that such things are perfectly normal.
The current plan is for my dad to stay in the hospital for six days, three of which will be spent in the ICU. After that, my parents will probably spend the following two weeks in my dad's Shawnee apartment. I doubt a trip to Springfield would be good idea, in my dad's present state of fragility. Plans remain highly fluid at this stage of his recovery.
My wife and boys will probably begin our journey to Oklahoma City early next week. I'm anxious to see everyone.
This evening, my wife is completing three birthday cakes. I'm helping as best I can. The fondant can be quite frustrating.
Tomorrow (Saturday) will be a day of nonstop activities. We've got two soccer games and two birthday parties to attend. Goodness be - we will be appreciating our youth and caffeine.
