CUBA, MISSOURI

My dad's heart procedure will begin in about 6 hours. As you can imagine, he's been on my mind. I talked to him around 4pm today. His heart was in the middle of another episode, poor guy. He and my mom were enroute to the hotel near the hospital. They wanted to have a short commute in the morning. My brother and grandfather stayed behind, in Shawnee. Everyone is as prepared for the procedure as they can be. The risks are purportedly minimal. How can it be minimal when they will have his ribcage open wide? Whatever the risks really are, this is what's needed, in the attempt to vastly improve his quality of life.

I just wrapped up my turn at the truck controls. Since we are hours from arriving home, I got the truck washed. We've had this rig for 30 days, and it has 24,000+ miles on the odometer. Our freight dispatch team has done a remarkable job for us.

My wife and boys are sleeping at my grandfather's house tonight, while he is away. (invited, of course). They are truly appreciating their time away from the hustle and noise of her parent's crowded house. The Devers are still living there, an will probably continue to do so for the extended future. Kate is about a month away from giving birth to their fourth child. Every family member is precious, even if the timing and circumstances suck.
