THURSDAY THRILLS

Like yesterday, I took Hunter to school. He asked me to walk him to his classroom. I gladly did so, with his little brother on my shoulders. Once we were several steps into the school hallway, I noticed that Hunter forgot his backpack in the car. We promptly returned to get it. The fact that I had agreed to walk him to his class must have distracted him. I found his mental lapse to be more comical then aggravating.
After dropping Hunter off at school, I loaded the car back up with: my youngest son, my wife, and my grandpa. we went to the shopping mall to have my taxes done at H&R Block. My grandpa watched my son play in the children's area while my wife and I met with our tax preparer.
With our taxes done, we celebrated by taking a trip to Aunt Martha's pancake house. Willie Nelson washed dishes here, many years ago. The food was good, as always. My grandpa particularly enjoys the peanut butter pancakes.
Since my mom's workplace was such a short distance from the restaurant, we decided to pay her a short visit. She had clients when we arrived, but she became available as we walked through the doors. Her supervisor recognized us, and shifted her next client to another counselor. Everyone likes my mom, and they are always thrilled when her grandchildren come to visit. (They like me well enough, also. Ha ha)
When we got back home, the three of us enjoyed a long nap.
We went to the school early, to be among the first in line to pick up our student, Hunter. The waiting time,in the car, is a great opportunity to read, and enjoy a time of stillness.
My mom proposed that the five of us go to her house this evening, to have a pizza dinner. We agreed. Grandpa headed over there before we did. She got home from work, just a few minutes after we walked through the door. Grandpa and I made a short trip to Little Caesar's to order 2 large pizzas, with different toppings to satisfy our varying palates. We returned to my mom's house and filled ourselves with that wonderful American-modified Italian food. We enjoyed an episode of Wheel of Fortune, while the boys played with Legos. It was a pleasant evening.
After arriving back home, again, I had Hunter complete his homework, before playing or taking a bath. He had to complete a first-grade version of a book report.
So, here we lay; the boys have just fallen asleep. Regina is reading her Kindle; and I am here, reflecting upon the events of the day.
