My little family unit had a wonderful and memorable Christmas. My boys, 4 and 7, experienced the day in all of its fullness. They woke earlier than usual to race into the livingroom, finding Santa's cookies eaten and a note written in reply to Hunter's question, asking how he gets presents delivered around the world in just one night. And, of course, they shouted in excitement over their new toys.
I enjoyed a homecooked breakfast and the opportunity to relax, not having tight schedules to be conscious of. We didn't go to church; time with family was all the inspiration I needed.
We headed over to my parents' house late in the morning. My Grandma, Aunt M. & Uncle B. were there. They drove my dad & brother back to Springfield from Oklahoma yesterday. As you may remember, health issues prevent my dad from being able to drive long distances. My mom prepared a delicious Christmas dinner (lunch). We exchanged gifts after we finished dessert. It was an enjoyable Christmas family event.
We spent the remainder of the afternoon napping and playing games. Regina, Forest and I went to see the latest Sherlock Holmes movie this evening. Hunter decided to stay behind with his great-grandfather, Bailey.
All was not entirely well this Christmas, though. Last night my aunt received word that her mother had unexpectedly died. Aunt L. will be starting her long, hasty & expensive trip to Indonesia in the morning. Her visiting sister managed to begin her series of flights today. My grandpa has been over to their house frequently, since the news broke. His presence has surely been of significant comfort to them.
