Saturday In the South

I woke up somewhere around Tallulah, Louisiana yesterday morning. My SFL (Sprint Family Locator) is my means of discovering where I am, while I lie in bed awakening to a brand new day. As I may have mentioned before, for fun, I get 3 automatic location reminders on myself each day. This service is primarily meant for parents to track their childrens' whereabouts, but I enjoy using it on myself for my own curiosity and amusement. I usually make some fun alterations, and forward the notifications to my wife, my parents, and to close friends. If you would enjoy receiving some of these silly texts also, send me a message, or email me at xmdriver4@gmail.com.
So, anyway, my turn to take command of the 18-wheel rig started near Jackson, Mississippi. I had already brewed my own coffee and ate a satisfying breakfast while the truck was in motion, under my co-drivers careful command, so I didn't buy anything from the truckstop c-store.
I made two short stops before I reached the Atlanta FedEx gates. The yard was the quietest I had ever seen it. Trailers were parked somewhat chaotically. The dispatch attendant seemed a little aloof, but I got my instructions and got my paperwork signed, so that's all that mattered.
An hour later,  I exchanged an empty trailer for a loaded one at the Stein Mart warehouse on Atlanta's West side. Again, there was very little activity, as the temperature plummeted with the sun.
I found it interesting to observe that the competency and courteousness of  freeway motorists increased as I progressed toward Atlanta's North side. This may be coincidence.
Just as my co-driver opened the bunk curtains to bid me a groggy "hello", I crossed into South Carolina. We were traveling on I-85. I moved into the left lane to give space to a State Trooper. As I glanced over, I thought I saw a bear lying still between the trooper's car and a white Honda. Several yards ahead were two more cars, parked on the shoulder. One car's hood was significantly damaged. I drove on, continuing to wonder if that was a bear that I saw, and assumed that the damaged car hit it.
My work day ended at the Pilot Travel Center. I was delighted to find a legitimate parking space. This meant that I could get a shower! Sometimes, the nature of our loads prevent us from getting showers for 2 and sometimes 3 days.
Regina had both of the boys at her workplace today. They are generally pretty good. Hunter did his homework, and Forest drew pictures. Forest likes to explain what his pictures are, with significant length and detail - some of which makes no sense, but is amusing anyway. I asked him to draw some pictures for me to tape up in my truck.
