As usual, I awakened without an alarm. My SFL location text alert came in, and I forwarded it to my usual group - with obnoxious intent, knowing that today is Sunday, and one of them probably forgot to silence their phone for church. Ha ha.
My dad called me from his Shawnee apartment. Mom and Grandpa Hill had already started their journey back to Springfield. Dad felt poorly this morning, so he didn't attend church. We chatted a few minutes before I deflated my air bed and got things in order for another adventure-filled day.
My co-driver was cruising through the Keystone State (Pennsylvania) when I opened the curtains. He told me about our lame upcoming work assignment, which would have us parked for significant amounts of time during the upcoming 24 hours. My spirits weren't too dampened; our overall weekly mileage was still alright. Many other drivers are reporting softer freight that expected for this time of year. With exit# 52 coming into sight, I persuaded him to stop a little earlier than he planned - at Schneider's Carlisle operating center. I really had to do laundry, since I was wearing the last clean pair of certain garments. I save about $12 when I do laundry at one of our OC's. Life on the road is expensive; a driver has to find bargains wherever he can.
I intend to resume my trip to Jersey City in an hour. It will be nice to get much of my business done while traffic is lightest, however we have an appointment to attend at 9am tomorrow.
