My work day started at the Love's Travel Plaza in North Little Rock, Arkansas at noon today. My co-driver told me that he saw a fiery wreck in Nashville earlier in the morning. A truck had overturned on a ramp to I-40. We hope the driver got out alive.
My trip to the Peterbilt plant in Denton, Texas was uneventful. However I did enjoy seeing the new In-N-Out Burger sign so close to the TA truck stop in Rockwall, Texas. I will have to stop there someday.
After departing Denton, I drove 38 miles down to the FedEx Ground terminal in Fort Worth. Upon arrival, I noticed a Facebook notification on my phone. My best friend from when I was 17 years old had found me and requested to be my "friend"! I dropped off the empty trailer and found a bobtail parking spot. Our loaded trailer is supposed to be ready at 3am. I would be irritated that we have to sit for another long spell, but the opportunity to chat with an old friend made the delay totally bearable.
I was surprised to learn that my parents, brother and grandfather were going back to Shawnee today. I talked to my dad just a few minutes before they started their journey. My dad has some doctor's appointment to attend in the coming days. My mom and grandfather will be returning to Springfield on Sunday. Mark will be staying in Shawnee with my dad. They are getting settled into their new apartment, just a few steps from Grandma Greenwalt's door. I hope to get a load through Shawnee sometime, at a decent hour of day. I'm really anxious to see Dad's second home.
More and more family members are encouraging me to get Skype. Hopefully I will be able to do so sometime early next year. My laptop barely works. I update these blogs and do Facebook from my smartphone. I figured out how to email the text to my blog. This explains some of the oddities.
My soup has soaked in boiling water long enough. Dinner (supper) time!
