Up to Denver, via Fiery Gauntlet

Phoenix, Arizona to Denver Colorado. We were required to take the load of potato chips through Flagstaff, Arizona and Albuquerque, New Mexico, as this was the route of least elevation. Extremely high altitudes do bad things to potato chip bags.
We spent last night in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Our list of chores were too numerous to allow time to spend with my cousin, Tom. Doing laundry was one of the chores we had to do, as Astrid vomited on the bed. Dogs do that sometimes.
Today, we traveled up I-25. The scenery was beautiful. One of the locations we passed through was Glorieta, New Mexico. This is where many of my family members have a vacationed over the years.
As we progressed into Colorado, we started seeing plumes of smoke. After a bit, smoke filled the air for miles and miles around. It was becoming hard to breathe for both of us. We were motivated to leave a truck stop, as we saw dark smoke rapidly advancing toward us. The gusts of smoky wind were surreal.
Traffic was heavy in Denver, Colorado. I guess that’s how it goes on a Friday afternoon, during the beginning of summer. Delivery to our customer went very smoothly. We had our next load selected, so we advanced northward as far as time legally permitted. Cheyenne, Wyoming will be our home for the next 34 hours. Our next load picks up Sunday morning. We got a refreshing shower and a delicious steak dinner. Satisfying times for sure.
