Picking Up Puppies

This has been an extraordinary day. We took a slight detour to pick up our puppies. The drive to Lucerne New York was beautiful. Freyja and Astrid are now aboard our truck. They are exactly 51 days old. Their mother is a German Shepherd and their father is a Rhodesian Ridgeback. We didn't get to meet either one of them, unfortunately. The folks giving away the puppies were friendly & helpful.
The furry girls were naturally a little reluctant to come with us. The sights and sounds of the truck and road were unsettling for them. They tried to scramble away, then resigned to sleeping a lot. I figure they are doing better than they otherwise would because of having each other. Everything else is changing for them.
We were pleasantly surprised that they waited until we were out of the truck to empty their bowels & bladders - twice, so far. There weren't any messes waiting for us when we got back to the truck after eating dinner at the Fifties Diner, here in Chicopee Massachusetts.
