Since there weren't any prohibitive signs or locked gates, I slept on my shippers property Sunday night into Monday morning. Outside temperatures dipped to -8°. My truck struggled to maintain a functional temperature with the engine fan defectively running all the time. I'm hoping to have it fixed Wednesday night.
During morning pretrip inspection, I discovered that my fuel filter had become clogged again. I suppose it is greatly due to the extreme cold temperatures.
After scaling my load at the Detroiter truck stop, I swung around the back of the building end aligned myself with repair Bay number three. A mechanic promptly attended to my needs. His opinion of my repeated filter clogging was: biodiesel. I noticed that I sometimes do pump fuel with about 5% biomaterials. The stuff does act a little funny in these new sensitive engines. Our attempts at protecting the environment have very real unintended consequences. Here is a picture of my new fuel filter. It isn't very pretty..
