Kevin and I have known each other for a few years. He is a company driver with aspirations to become an independent contractor, like me. We spent a few hours together last night. He introduced me to his good friend, Russell.
Russell is an independent contractor with several years under his belt. While silly and loud, he knows how to get down to business in an instant.
The man is very opinionated about how business should be run. I will probably take him up on his offer to be my question-and-answer man. Hopefully he won't be too offended by my rejection of a portion of his strongly held opinions.
Things of been going well for me. This week I have been experimenting with hauling relatively short-mileage loads. While these loads are very profitable per mile, they do consume a lot of time. I may choose to take the longer loads next week. I'm still establishing my preferences.
