Mr. H delivered our JCPenney load to it's destination here in Southern California. He serviced another load before I woke up and he wrapped up his workday at the Fontana OC.
It's time for our usual day off. Also, our tractor is in the shop for routine maintenance. We were way overdue.
I took the motel shuttle over to the Best Western by the Ontario airport. On the way over, the driver nearly ran into the back of a stopped car. The van's tires screeched and he swerved. I was thankful to be wearing a seatbelt. It was a close one. We did our best to pretend it didn't happen.
Shortly after checking into my room, I turned on the TV. CNN was showing live footage of a tornado forming in Oklahoma City. I took a shower. After I had dried off and had put clothes back on, It was apparent that a horrific tragedy had unfolded. I kept tabs on the news throughout the evening. Surreal.
I often spend time with aunts/uncles/cousins whenever I'm in Southern California, but today I simply needed time to myself – to clean up and rejuvenate.
