Bumpy 20

THURSDAY
BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA TO PARIS, TEXAS

My co-driver told me that he didn't sleep very well during his Wednesday night to Thursday morning (2am) sleep shift. This was concerning to me, as my Thursday afternoon/evening route would be taking us across a very bumpy portions of I-20. Mississippi was the worst. The driver has to really slow down through portions of Jackson, just to maintain control of his rig. I was pleasantly surprised by how much improvement Louisiana has made over the past year. My route to Paris, Texas had to be exiting I–20 from Shreveport. Except for a few towns and stop signs, the rest of the trip went smoothly. Oh, I forgot to mention that our customer, Kimberly-Clark, was tricky to get into tonight. The state of Texas decided to alter Loop 286. Our normal entrance was blocked by permanent Jersey barriers. Finding a place to legally turnaround was extraordinarily difficult. We will have to take that into consideration for the next time we are assigned to deliver or pick up from that location.

As it turns out, my co-driver driver slept through the bumps. He was well-rested and ready to safely drive.
