SAILING WITH UNCLE

Uncle Roger & I went sailing today. He owns a boat. It is docked at a marina in Oxnard, California. It took 2 hours to drive there from his house, in Fontana. The long drive was well-worth the enjoyment we experienced out on the water.

We sailed about an hour north, to Ventura Harbor. We spent about two hours there, having lunch & enjoying the community.

The seas were much rougher on the way back down to Oxnard. We both enjoy the feeling of the boat rocking hard & crashing into the swells. Seasickness doesn't affect us any. The weather was cool & unsettled. Moderate winds filled the sails, pulling us along at an impressive pace. We took turns at the helm, until we entered the protected harbor. Uncle Roger knows how to maneuver the 36' sailboat into his slip with impressive precision.

Our trip back to the Inland Empire went much faster than we were expecting - especially being a Friday evening, when so many Angelenos are normally trying to get out of town for the weekend.

Upon returning to Uncle Roger's house, I got to enjoy spending a little time with my 21-year-old cousin, Melissa. She is a truly enjoyable person to be around. We share similar libertarian political views.

This will be my second (and final) night at Uncle Roger & Aunt Julie's house. I have been sleeping in Daniel's room. He has a dorm room at CBU. He had other plans tonight.

After Evan's wedding, I will return to the Schneider yard, where Victor & I will start another week of work, on the road, hauling as much freight as we are legally allowed to.
