We got back on the road early Tuesday morning. It was around 2am, actually. It was my co-drivers shift to work. I eased into the sleeper while he accomplished all the necessary duties. We hadn't seen each other in a full day. Time apart & away from the usual scenery is essential for good mental health.
This morning & yesterday morning I was awakened before my sleep shift had concluded. We had been pre-assigned to loads that required proper trip planning & calling in for security briefings. I told my co-driver that I'm perfectly fine with being awakened for such things. He trusts me with those duties more than he does himself, so far. Plus, the loads we have been under have had little margin of extra transit time. Tick-tock. Tick-tock.
We are in Dallas right now. My partner is trading our loaded trailer for an empty one, at FedEx. If our trailer was water-tight, it will be proven so when they unload the packages. We went through a significant thunderstorm last night.
