Gary, Indiana
About 30 hours ago, we were routed to the Schneider OC in Gary, after we delivered our load of widgets to the Walmart distribution center in Hammond. I inquired with the head mechanics about getting our truck repaired. Part of the bumper had been torn off & the air conditioning system had been disabled from a deer hit. We were informed that it would take a few days just to get the truck into the shop, then, it was anyone's guess how long it will take to complete repairs... if the proper parts were in stock. I called my supervisor this morning to ask for a loaner truck to keep our income stream flowing. He found a brand new truck for us & pulled the right strings to get us into it. It's our understanding that the assignment will be temporary, until repairs are complete on our 2012 Cascadia. The truck that we are assigned to is a 2013 model, with new safety features, including OnGuard collision/proximity mitigation systems I've heard mostly negative reports on it, but I have learned to try things out for myself before arriving at deeply felt opinions. Victor & I spent about an hour transferring our things from the gray truck to the orange loaner truck. Bitter experiences have taught me to move everything over in these situations.
We have a load assignment. We will be going to the Atlanta area. I've kept a close eye on Hurricane Sandy through The Weather Channel. We won't be close enough to it to be in any danger.
A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck off the coast of British Columbia about 45 minutes ago. I asked my cousin, James–Olivia if she felt it in Seattle. She didn't, nor had she known about the earthquake until I told her about it. Canadian & Alaskan coastal regions are under tsunami warnings at the moment.
I'm actively appreciating my good health. My dad & and my wife have bad colds today. They sounded miserable over the phone.
