RELAY & WAITING

Sunday night:
I relayed our Canada-bound trailer in the Schneider yard this afternoon. The driver was extremely happy to see me. Canadian drivers are prohibited from running freight between points within the United States – they have to go right back to Canada. So, there's no telling how long he had been here waiting for my trailer.

Having no load pre-assignment, I called the weekend support crew, then waited, then checked the computer, then called again, then checked the computer some more. There wasn't much going on in the freight market this weekend & we were getting relatively low on hours. We decided to go ahead and shut the truck down for a day to reset our 70 hour clock. I decided against getting a motel room for myself. Victor & I are going to simply maintain our normal routine – taking turns in the sleeper of the truck. There's plenty we can do to remain occupied here, at the Schneider operating center. We've got books to read& laundry to wash.
