WEDGED OWL

Terre Haute, Indiana
Victor just parked the rig at the pilot travel center. It's driver swap time, plus we both need showers. Separate ones… Of course! I'll never forget the time the ditzy cashier in Idaho thought my co-driver & I wanted the same shower. Gag!

As I was about to step out of the truck, I noticed something furry wedged under my neighbors outside windshield visor. A barn owl. The driver probably heard a loud thump as he was driving last night, & still hasn't figured out what it was.

My partner told me about a fiery crash That happened on I 44, Near Miami, Oklahoma around 5am this morning. Troopers were just arriving at the scene. A tractor-trailer had drifted off the roadway and violently crashed into the hillside. Most of the rig was ablaze. He didn't see the driver outside of the truck. We try not to assume things, but it didn't look favorable for him/her. Such tragedies make me value every day that I'm alive, treat people well & do my best not to waste time worrying about what-ifs.
