Tuesday night/ Wednesday morning
Jason Arnold is one of my best friends in the world. He just visited me at my truck, here at the FedEx hub in Kansas City. It's been years since we've actually seen each other, but we've kept in close contact via Facebook & other means. We used to work together, before I took off to go truck driving.
Our trailer should be ready to roll in about 2 hours. Victor will be driving then. We deadheaded 373 miles today, from eastern Iowa. I'm glad we get paid the same- loaded & empty. Freight continues to be tepid, even as the Christmas shopping season traditionally heightens around now.
The remnants of Hurricane Sandy continue to batter parts of the Northeast & Upper Midwest. Some of our fellow drivers were stranded in Long Island when the hurricane arrived. Getting out has been a nightmare for them today, with strewn debris, nasty human beings & having no traffic signals to promote order. I don't envy them. Such times do make for good storytelling, though.
My boys had good experiences at school today. Forest dressed up as President Lincoln & Hunter was recognized for his consistent good behavior. Pictures are posted on their blogs.
