CARMAGEDDON- 2

Santa Fe Springs, California
After driver swap at the Fontana operating center, I drove the 46 remaining miles to deliver our load. It was to the JC Penney warehouse, in Buena Park, California. We picked this load up in North Carolina. The last time I was here, Peter Abraham was coincidentally delivering his load at the same time. It was a very unexpected surprise. Meeting up with friends is one of the most pleasurable experiences out here on the road.

From Fontana to Buena Park, it was an hour's drive. Returning to Fontana took nearly two hours. Yay. I got to experience the full wrath of Southern California rush hour traffic. I continued the heavy-traffic experience after relaying my trailer at the Fontana yard. My dispatchers had me picking up & dropping off trailers at various places. I'm currently being loaded with Canada-bound freight. This dock slot is tight.

Just a few more miles to my North//West is an event that has been heavily publicized: Carmageddon2. A portion of the 405 Freeway, in/near Los Angeles will be closed over this weekend as demolition & cleanup ensue. They will close the freeway tonight & then reopen it early Monday morning. The city has done everything in their power to warn & accommodate their citizens for this event.

My son's second grade class was permitted to bring their electronic entertainment devices to school today. The teacher informed everyone of the special allowance last week. Hunter announced that he didn't want to bring his Nintendo DS to school for fear of losing or breaking it. Just an hour into the school day, Hunter's teacher called Regina to ask her to bring the toy to school. Hunter had changed his mind upon seeing all if his friends having their electronic toys in class. Regina promptly brought his DS to school & the boy was happy.

Circumstances didn't allow me to visit any of my relatives during this tour of Southern California. My tight schedule was one of the reasons. The other reason is the flu. Uncle Galen posted on Facebook that he is ill today. Looks like he's had several comments offering encouragement & prayers. We need all the good mojo we can get wherever we are sick.
