LOTS OF QUALITY TIME

We were charged $15.90 for breakfast this morning! It was a common motel buffet assortment, yet less tasty than most. These things are usually free at most motels. Oh, well. We did get a good deal, for this 3-star hotel.
My dad was in good spirits for much of the day. He had his rough moments occasionally. It was very nice to spend a lot of time with my mom, brother, Grandpa Bailey & Grandma Alice. We don't get to be together very often.
For lunch, Grandpa Bailey took us to TGI Friday's. We ended our meals with peanut butter chocolate pies. They were extremely good.
I let Regina & my boys spend the afternoon in the motel, while I resumed presence with my dad.
We followed breaking news coverage of the tornadoes in Dallas. Dad called me with the news of the devastation as we were completing our meal at the restaurant. He told me that he saw significant numbers of Schneider trucks & trailers tangled in the news coverage. Sure enough, our operating center in Dallas had sustained a direct hit from a tornado. Some of the most widely broadcasted video showed 2 of our trailers spinning 200 feet in the air. The most recent news reports say that no one was seriously hurt in the area. That is truly amazing. Property damage is significant, though.
I spent a few hours of leisure & family time back at the motel. Around dusk, we went out to order dinner at Taco Bell. I tried the new Doritos taco, and was not impressed.
Afterward, we all spent an hour with my dad. He had finished his dinner and completed two laps around his pod. Just before we got there, he was starting to feel bad again. A nurse brought him some extra strength Tylenol to ease his pain. We enjoyed about an hour of light conversation, and returned to the Holiday Inn.
The boys were in the mood for a swim. I was happy to oblige them. Neither of them knows how to swim yet, so they took turns hanging onto me for trips to the deep end and back to the stairs.
There are rumors about what's going to happen tomorrow, but they are just rumors. I think my dad needs to spend another day or two under the care of his doctors & nurses, but others think he might do as well at his apartment in Shawnee.
This wraps up an extraordinary Tuesday.
