OKLAHOMA CITY to ATLANTA

At this moment, my co-driver is still on duty, deadheading us to our next shipper. I was still asleep when he arrived at the Hobby Lobby warehouse near Atlanta. I overheard one of the workers say that they swept out the trailer after they unloaded it. What a pleasant surprise.
I spent several hours, yesterday, on the Hobby Lobby headquarters property in Oklahoma City. They were late loading our trailer. I had intended to stop by Shawnee after we got rolling, to visit my dad. However, the circumstances didn't allow that this time. I try not to broadcast such intentions until I know for sure I will be able to 'deliver.' I did, however, call my dad as I rolled through the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. He was having a nacho dinner. My cousin, J, also lives in the area. I called him also. He had just gotten home from work, and was intending to barbecue some chicken.
As I approached Arkansas, I saw frequent flashes of lightning. It had been so pleasantly warm today, accounting for much of the intensity of this December storm. I stopped for a quick break at a Love's truck stop before I caught up with the rain. I missed the driveway, so I entered a vacant lot next to the busy fuel stop. The bumps were so extreme that my trailer's 'skirt' hit the ground on one occasion. It bounced back, thankfully. I had a muddy trek to and from the convenience store, but the good coffee was worth it.
It was fully nighttime as I crossed into Arkansas, on Interstate 40. The rain poured. I cancelled the cruise control and foot-throttled my rig at 55 mph for much of the evening.
I wrapped up my driving shift at a locally owned truck stop, in a small town between Little Rock and Memphis. It was midnight, and another successful day was on the books.
I got to talk to my boys earlier in the evening. Forest was excited about Christmas. He really wants a coo coo clock. He is also making another sincere effort to quit using pacifiers. Poor little fella already understands what smokers go through!  Hunter gave up his pacifier when he was 3. Wednesday was just another average day for Hunter. He's doing alright.
