My Sunday drive took place in Montana, North Dakota, and Minnesota. Together, my partner and I drove nearly 1,300 miles today. If the roads weren't snow-covered, we could have accomplished more. By mid-afternoon bare pavement allowed me to set the cruise to full throttle. There wasn't much scenery. Very few trees grow between Eastern Montana and Wisconsin. I didn't need exciting roadside distractions to tease my mind; my kids filled that void.
I talked to my wife several times throughout the day. Hunter and Forest got on the phone occasionally as well. Hunter decided that he wanted to learn how to wash laundry today. He separated his clothes into a pile of whites, and a pile of colored; he loaded the washer with just the supervision of his mother. During a call, Regina looked into the washer to discover that the white laundry's water was pink. Hunter saw this too, and was upset that he accidentally loaded a red shirt into the washer. He was horrified that he would have to wear pink socks and underwear. His mom reassured him that she would remove the red shirt and run the wash again to get the pink out. I told Regina to tell Hunter that I had done the same thing before; everybody does it. Hunter is always comforted by the knowledge that Daddy has experienced the same things as he is. Regina sent me a video of Hunter transferring his clothes from the washer to the dryer. I'm very proud of my 7 year old son; and I am equally proud of my 4 year old boy, also.
