News on Dad -
Dad was released from the hospital today, with a prescription for strong pain medicine. He was supposed to be undergoing a heart procedure this week, but various complications nixed that. He will be making a series of trips between Springfield and Oklahoma in the coming weeks - hopefully resulting in a successful heart procedure. Dad sounded so glad to be out of the hospital. He had been confined there for about 2 weeks or so.
-Not Coming Home As Scheduled-
We were supposed to arrive home Wednesday afternoon, however we agreed to delay that by a full week. My co-driver is more than 3 years into a complete gutting and remodeling of his house. He doesn't have air conditioning right now. He often stays in one of Joplins remaining motels while we are off work. All of the rooms have been reserved by multitudes of Vietnamese Catholics who meet in Joplin and Carthage, Missouri during this week every year. (You might remember news coverage of a fatal bus crash, involving some of their group coming up from Texas, about 4 years ago). Anyway, 100 degree outdoor temperatures without the relief of air conditioning would be a miserable way to spend time-off from work. He probably hasn't considered getting a window air conditioning unit, but I don't mind staying out for another week for my own reasons - including the possibility of helping my dad get to or from Oklahoma.
Spending The Night in Clayton, Indiana-
I'm a lease-operator, learning & doing something a little different every day. Life on America's highways is amazing.
