Encounter With Border Patrol Near El Paso Texas

We departed Arizona this morning. It was a smooth drive for most of the day. The 100° heat didn’t phase us, as our air conditioning is still at peak performance.
The kind folks at Walmart in Tucson Arizona delivered groceries to our truck shortly after we pulled in. We love their pick up service. Many of our trucking friends don’t yet know how it works. Stephanie is doing her best to educate our friends about this amazing convenience.
Drivers in El Paso Texas were extraordinarily dumb. It was amazing to break and swerve for so many poor drivers. We had to recognize that many of them came from Mexico, a place where driving culture is a little different.
After Stephanie complained about our cell phone signal fading, we approached a Border Patrol checkpoint. We expected them to ask the usual questions regarding our citizenship and cargo. Today was a little different, as the burner patrol agents directed us to park in the secondary inspection lane. They commenced to perform a full inspection on the tractor, trailer, and my own body. Our dogs behaved exceptionally well, as they were confined in a kennel across the bay from us. Five agents and a dog spent about 30 minutes looking for contraband and unauthorized passengers. We spoke respectfully to them, and didn’t suffer excessive inconvenience or humiliation. While it was a little scary, we look back on it as an amusing adventure.
We are spending tonight in the unloading zone of our customer in Carlsbad, New Mexico. They invited us to park in the safety of their property, rather than on the street.
Stephanie made pot roast in the crockpot today. We were grateful that the federal agents didn’t disturb our dinner. It turned out really well. We rewarded our dogs with several morsels and plenty of broth. This was quite a day.
Our seal was broken and was replaced with this bolt at the border patrol checkpoint. We are hoping our customer doesn’t make too much of a fuss about it.
