Getting Yelled At In New Jersey

Jersey City is a difficult place for any truck driver. The roads are awful & designed in such a tortured way. Lots of other vehicles add to the heightened attention needed to get around.
When we arrived at our customer’s address, we discussed the signage & used years of past experiences to guide our choices of where to go. This facility was oddly designed & derelict of maintenance. I followed another truck into an opened gate. Two guards came running toward me; one of them yelling at me like I had committed a crime.
Apparently, they want drivers to park on the street before checking in; a broken sliding gate didn’t provide the obvious cue of what to do. I parked my rig several yards inside the yard. The famale guard verbally lashed me in front of her trainee. I knew better than to engage in an argument, so I spoke in such a way that allowed the guards to quickly tell me where to drop my empty trailer & where to pick up my loaded one. Upon departure, the guard apologized for her gruff behavior. It was satisfying to know that I handled the situation as well as I did. Stephanie proud of me also.
