To Indianapolis and Back

It is about 8am in Springfield Missouri. We are in the upstairs hallway of the Kenworth dealership, waiting for the mechanic to perform an alignment on the truck. There’s a man sleeping in the TV room, so we are trying to be courteous with our puppies.
We’ve been working vigorously the past few days; driving to the extreme limits of the law. Things have gone smoothly with our customers & on the road.
Two nights ago, I stopped for the night at a popular truck stop in Effingham Illinois. There were no spaces available & other drivers were parking wherever they could. My DOT clock was completely exhausted, so I couldn’t go anywhere else. We lingered on the fuel island for a significant amount of time, watching for any truck to leave a parking space. When a driver finally did leave, a comical competition ensued. I won that little race. It was really exciting to snag a coveted spot, while so many other drivers were circling the massive property with the same competitive stance.
Yesterday, we picked up a relayed trailer from the Schneider yard in Indianapolis. We were glad that we were able to make it all the way to Springfield Missouri on the same work shift. Traffic was a little congested in the metro area, as it always is during the afternoon.
