Greenville Ohio to Grain Valley Missouri

After delivering our prior load, we got to see Stephanie's family, including her ex-husband. They met us across the street from our customer, at the Pilot travel center. 15 of them came to visit us! I'm sure the folks at Subway hadn't planned on a full house that afternoon! The visit took less than an hour, but was nice.
We drove two hours south and picked up a load of small appliances from a warehouse in Greenville Ohio. I was glad that the nearby Walmart was hospitable to truck parking. My DOT clock was running very thin after I signed the paperwork for the load.
Stephanie was a good sport, as usual, about getting up way before dawn. I had to drive a little faster than usual since my 70 hour clock was running tight. How are fuel optimizer directed us to stop at a particular truck stop in Indianapolis. I took the time to wait at various stop lights and make the sharp turns. It was really frustrating when I found out that it was closed. We didn't have time to waste. I pumped fuel elsewhere and got ourselves out of Indianapolis before  traffic got really bad.
We made a few rest stops along the way. It was a pleasant drive. I did my best to speculate where we would be able to spend the night after delivery. Certainty was impossible since my recap hours were running desperately low.
Upon delivery, my customer informed me that they did not have any empty trailers to offer. It's unusual for me to be  glad for this. The unencumberment of a trailer gave me renewed hope of having the legal ability to make it to Kansas City before shutting down.
Without speeding, I made it to my favorite truck stop in Kansas City Missouri. Only 11 minutes remained on my 70 hour clock, however. We seem to have a habit of running it close.
We played this week well. Our time off has begun. It will be nice to take a little more time off than usual. We spent a considerable amount of time riding city buses up to Kansas City International Airport to rent a car. It was fun to tour the city that way. We are back at the truck stop now, doing laundry and preparing dinner. It seemed like the best idea to wait until morning before embarking on our trip home.
