THE NEWER SCHNEIDER YARD IN HOUSTON

Do you remember the Schneider yard in Houston? It's mostly used by tankers, but vans do come in there to fuel, relay trailers, get repairs, and to enjoy a few creature comforts. Not very many drivers like to go there since everything is so tight. I think I heard about a new yard being established a couple years ago, but today was the first time I had actually been there. It's about 5 miles from the other one. The facilities are definitely old, but we don't need anything too fancy. Space is what we need.
I relayed a trailer there, this morning. This was after attempting to deliver my load to a customer in Pasadena. Although my assignment said that I had a 9:30 unloading appointment, they declared that I did not have an appointment at all. The good folks at Schneider made alternate plans for me. Someone else will be delivering a load tomorrow. Schneider assured me that I would not have to pay the $500 fine to relay the trailer. That policy is only enforced when it is voluntarily done so, by an owner operator. My situation is not voluntary.
I am parked at a motel for my 34 hour restart. America's Best Value Inn was happy to take my money in exchange for 24 hours in room #205.
