LITTLE MISTAKES THAT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE

Hawkins Texas  (yesterday)
It makes me uncomfortable when a shipping clerk asks me to initial their bills to verify a seal that I haven't actually seen yet. When I connected to my pre-loaded trailer, I discovered that the seal wasn't attached to the door latches, nor was it anywhere to be found inside the trailer! I detached my tractor & drove back to the office. They amended my paperwork and gave me a different seal. Back on the "loaded-trailer" row, I proceeded to put my newly-gotten seal on the doors, but there was one already there! So, I just put my new seal over the original seal & connected to the good-looking new orange trailer. Just before completing my computer tasks before departing, I just happened to notice that someone twisted two numbers on the paperwork. Everyone has a dyslexic moment occasionally. I was going to have to return to the office to have my paperwork corrected. Then I realized that the "original" seal was of a different number. Did I reattach to the wrong trailer? I sure did! My assigned trailer was 4 spots down & had the very same numbers, but the last two digits were reversed! I was the one who made the mistake this time! It was frustrating to have to do all the work to change trailers again & break off my newly-received seal. The office workers didn't give me a single hint of shame when I explained what happened, requesting a new seal & getting another adjustment to my paperwork.
