IN THE PARISHES

Baton Rouge, Louisiana It was good to deliver my heavy load of weed killer ingredient. Much of my trip had been spent on challenging two-lane highways in Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana. I knew what the trip would entail when I chose the load. It paid well & got me through home, so the adventure was totally worth it.
After my trailer was empty, I deadheaded an hour east to pick up my next load. After 90 minutes on the shippers property, a manager came out to inform me that they had to cancel the shipment. They ran out of product. I would be paid $150 for my trouble. Within half an hour, I selected a new load. The kinds of loads I wanted were no longer available. My plans to be home for the holiday were dashed, but I did my best to keep a flexible spirit.
My next shipper was 45 minutes due east of where I was. They had me in & out within half an hour. I'm scheduled to deliver early, early Thursday morning in one of the busiest Northeastern states.
