The original plan was for me to be home for the weekend, but it turned out that I absolutely had to keep rolling. This frustrated and deflated my feelings a lot, but my 9-year-old son had just the words to make me feel better. He expressed a certain degree of understanding of why I was having to work so hard & he made it emphatically clear that he was very happy to at least spend time with me for those few hours. My other son, Forest, and my wife, Regina, made me feel welcome and loved during my brief time in town.
I parked my rig on the street, across the street from my house. Since I wouldn't be there beyond noon, I didn't think it would bother anyone.
We went to IHOP for breakfast. The boys hamed it up for the other patrons, all while being well-behaved.
Afterward, we went around the corner, to Best Buy. I was in dire need of a new laptop cord.
Returning to Nixa, I decided to pay a visit to Charlie's Barber Shop. My hair was way overdue for a cut. Regina & the boys didn't mind coming along. We were still together & enjoying each others' presence.
Back at the house, I got a shower and gathered a few jars of homemade soup to take on the road. After a few hugs and kisses, I resumed my trip to Oklahoma.
It was a good visit. I don't know when I'll be home again, but I'm intending for it to be soon. The availability of freight has almost everything to do with my home-scheduling.
