MICHIGAN MONDAY

Monday went smoothly, in spite of the snow and frigid temperatures. My customer, in Grand Rapids, pleasantly surprised me with a pre-loaded trailer ready to roll. I carefully navigated the streets to the freeway & continued to keep my ice-driving mindset. Black ice had contributed to a few wrecks already that morning.
I struggled to keep my windshield clean enough to see through. The cheap blue washer fluid had frozen in the tubes to the windshield wiper. This required me to stop every so often to manually toss some fluid onto the windshield & run the wipers to make the road ahead visible again. It was a happy moment when squirters were functional again.
My trip through Chicago to Beloit, Wisconson went smoothly, without delays or frustrations. A strong snow storm moved through the area as I delivered my load & was making my way to the truckstop where I would spend the night. Several inches of snow fell yesterday afternoon and evening.
