Good to be rolling again

It was good to finally check out of the motel. My time there was pleasant, but it was good to get back on the road. My co-driver drove the first four hours, until our normal swap time. While he drove, I did my best to take a picture or two of the Manhattan skyline, Including theWTC Freedom Tower. From New Jersey, on the freeway, photography opportunities aren't the best.

We were assigned to pick up a load at one of our frequent customers. At their property, I got out of the truck, with the clipboard, and got our paperwork while my co-driver dropped off the empty trailer. There is always a lot of activity and many trucks there, so teamwork truly made things go faster.

After I took over, I drove over to our assigned fuel stop. It is one that we had never been to before. It was a 7-Eleven store, with antiquated, unkept pumps. Figuring out how to get into there was its own challenge – as was getting out!

Most of my friends cannot stand going to New Jersey. It's congested, signs are poor, and it's residents often do dangerous and strange things. Those of you who have been there know exactly what I'm talking about. It's something I've learned to handle healthily over the years. I go in there with an accepting, skilled & vigilant mindset, plus the appreciation of beginning or completing many of my assignments there. Money makes things better.

The rest of my day of driving was fairly uneventful, but my destination did get changed from Atlanta to Charlotte. I don't question why, because the mysterious load planners usually have good reasons & a good itinerary lined up for us. It's good to work for the "Big Orange".
