Late Saturday morning.
After my partner delivered our cursed load to the Walmart drop-yard in Irwindale, we deadheaded to the Fontana yard. Two of my uncles picked up on my whereabouts via my check-in on Facebook. I pretended to be at the Toyota Speedway, although I was still in my pajamas in the bunk - as my co-driver was delivering our load to Walmart. They invited me to join them for breakfast. I accepted. Getting to see family is always a morale-booster. I love these people very much.
Before my partner was granted access through the sliding gate, into the Fontana yard, I jumped out of the truck & briskly walked to the Carl's Jr. around the corner. Uncle Galen, Uncle Roger, Aunt Julie, cousin Daniel & his girlfriend, Audrey, were already there. I was impressed by their punctuality. They were actually there about 10 minutes prior to when they said they would be there – 10 o'clock. I'm usually the early one – waiting for other people.
We enjoyed a meal together. Uncle Roger ordered & paid for my meal. Conversation was exciting, as usual. We have lots of adventure stories to trade. I was happy to see my cousin, Daniel. (Uncle Roger & Aunt Julie's son). It had been a couple years since I had seen him last. And, I finally got to meet his girlfriend, Audrey. Daniel had to undergo an interview process, of sorts, with her father, in order to be allowed to date her. Wow. They will both be graduating from California Baptist University in May. I enjoyed Uncle Roger's stories about their time in Southeast Asia with their daughter/my cousin Jennifer. She is working for some sort of company over there. Aunt Julie was still recovering from giardiasis. She put on a good face although she felt poorly.
This little family reunion lasted less than half an hour, but it was very good. My JC Penney load had to start moving toward Ohio as soon as possible. It was already a little late.
What an enjoyable start to a Saturday!
