HOME AGAIN

We rolled into town in the nick of time for me to be able to see Forest off to school. It was just before noon.

I got to do most of my customary arrival rituals while the boys were away at school, which includes reading my mail & getting a shower.

I was amazed by the amount of traffic & waiting we have to endure to pick the boys up from school. After picking up Hunter & his cousin, we had to hustle across town to pick Forest up from his preschool. Thankfully, the normal traffic congestion at the preschool masked our slightly late arrival. Since the elementary school gets out an hour early on Fridays, there is no cushion-time between the two schools' dismissals. On the way over, Hunter told me about his day at school. I insist that he tell me at least three things. Once Forest excitedly bounced into the car, we had a similar talk. The highlight of Hunter's day was the celebration of his birthday, which is tomorrow. He turns eight. Forests bright moment of the day was playing with gears, according to him.

We wasted little time after picking the boys up from school. I had an appointment to meet at the occupational clinic. My DOT medical certification was just about to expire. I did well on each of the assessments. They deemed me fit to drive a commercial vehicle for the next two years. I should've had this done the other day, while I was in Atlanta undergoing my random drug test.

We had dinner tonight, at Applebee's, with my grandpa and mother. We all had hearty appetites, including the kids.

It's about 40 minutes until midnight, Hunter's last few minutes of being seven years old.
