We try to keep our Out-of-Route (OOR) miles to a minimum, 2%. This trip, we got it all done with 31 fewer miles than was paid for. (1,423 total paid miles; 1,392 actually driven) Woo hoo! This will be good for our average at the end of the fiscal quarter. Minimal OOR miles are a criteria for our performance bonuses. I took some crooked, steep & stop-lighted roads to get down here. Had I been in a hurry, I would have just taken I-40 across & I-17 down to Phoenix.
My dad made it back to Springfield yesterday afternoon. I was concerned that the trip would be painful for him, so soon after having surgery. He says he did alright. On his recent 40 mile trip from OKC to Shawnee, he rode holding a pillow between his chest and the seatbelt. I assume he did the same for his trip to Springfield.
Right after they got home, my mom immediately got outside and mowed the lawn. I sure wish I could have been around to do that for her.
