VISITED MY FAMILY TONIGHT

Although I was in a big hurry, I figured that I had enough time to stop by Springfield to visit my family. It was a little past 7pm when I pulled into the closed Price Cutter parking lot. There were three cars waiting for me. My grandpa and Mark in the Buick; my parents in the Nissan; and Regina and my boys in the Ford. Hunter and Forest came running and yelling toward me in total excitement. "DADDY, DADDY! " they shouted repeatedly as they hugged me. I shared a few hugs and happy words with the other members of my family. They didn't stick around long, since they knew I could only stay for 15 minutes, and my boys needed every moment possible with me. The visit was short, yet precious. My boys and I share a strong bond, despite the fact that I have to be away for weeks at that time. I talk to them nearly every day, and I regularly send them postcards. This is all we have ever known. We are a trucker family, through and through.
My co-driver handed over the keys at 2pm today, in Oklahoma City. I drove hard, and wrapped up my day at 1am, in Springfield, Illinois. He will be delivering our load in Ottawa, Illinois in a couple of hours. Both of us will be out of hours, so we will be relaxing in separate motel rooms for the next day.
