Waking to Woes (not mine)

Around 8am, my friend, Alex, sent me a series of texts and pictures of an accident he was involved in - while he was sleeping. He was sound asleep at a Kentucky truckstop, when the tractor-trailer on his left decided to leave. As the truck pulled out, he turned hard to the left. The right rear overhang of his trailer swung out and pulverized the left side of Alex's hood. There is usually about 5 feet of trailer behind the axles that a driver has to be mindful of while maneuvering. Most incidents like this just damage a neighbors mirror. Alex said that the driver stopped and took responsibility. I'm glad that there are professionals still on the road. Maybe this incident will inspire our company to upgrade Alex's truck. He currently has 800,000 miles on the odometer. Alex and I have been friends for a little more than 2 years. We met while doing laundry at our West Memphis OC.

Another good friend called me before I was out of bed. LJ was hurt on the job, from falling freight at a FedEx dock. He has always done what is expected of him, but the company is delaying his surgery and has been "losing" his paychecks. This is one of the most hard-working, likable men that I know. Such treatment is uncalled for. I figure it is unofficial standard policy, by a company that is too big for its britches.
I'm just a few minutes away from beginning my work day. My co-driver just picked up 16 truck hood assemblys from Abingdon, Virginia. We are heading to Washington state! I hope nothing "urgent" comes up along the way, like having to relay this load in Indianapolis to service some other "important" load.
Make it a good day, everybody!
